Raiders feel less cursed than the bears for some reason. They don’t even need a good qb just average and they’d have 6+ wins. Bears on the other hand are beyond fucked. Jets and browns as well.

i don't think they're idiots for signing cousins or drafting penix but i think they are idiots for doing both at the same time. especially when penix was advertised as arguably the most pro ready plug-and-play guy in this year's draft.

if penix ends up working out/being an improvement over cousins that's great but also a) in that scenario they'd have prob made the playoffs this season had they just started penix from the beginning, and b) the falcons are still on the hook to pay the 10s of millions cousins is owed next season and may or may not have to eat that cap hit/attach a pick to cousins in a trade.

and if cousins had came back this season as his regular self... when would penix have ever actually taken the field?

if the plan was always to draft a guy in the top 10ish in the same offseason they could've easily signed a cheaper/more disposable bridge option. darnold, russ, fields, flacco and minshew were all right there just off the top of my head.

After having no stability at QB for a few years I think they were shell shocked into guaranteeing stability by getting Kirk/Penix despite the high cost long term
