So... no one cares to question whether it IS the band or other party sellers putting price tags on things? I can't see Maynard giving a shit about any of this. Maybe so. I don't know exactly how this works... doesn't seem like any of you do either. Haha

No, I don’t think it’s the band. I’m referring to the record label. They fucked up as far as I can see.

That's an important point to make.

It's super silly that there isn't a normally priced version with just the regular album and a normal (i.e. sufficient) stock. Would have bought that weeks ago.
|
| |
Didn't they release it on their own label by the way?

Including a unique screen computer thing in each product sounds like a headache x2

Really disappointed with the album's quality and its release policy tbh
While i like post metal quite a bit and this resembles a lot of post metal's qualities, it meanders much more than say Isis or Cult of Luna. At least they know how to properly pay off a 10 minute build-up. Also, it doesn't help that i kind of feel that Maynard's absence wouldn't have made much of difference, save for Pneuma and Tempest

I totally get that sizeofanocean. Annoys me too.

dl and chill
Also an average Maynard is still better than those post-metal hipster screamos.

Oh my yes, that I can agree with. That last statement.

This is not post-metal or post-rock or post-whatever. Tool doesn't have any build ups on this album. If you think the first 4-5 min of Descending is only a build up... no. It's MJK singing best than ever. He's just not angry anymore. And the same for invencible or culling voices. Great vocal work.

It isn't about angriness for me. His performance sounds very phoned in for me.
Where are all the great emotional highs from their other four records? None of this is on here imo. I even liked his also rather mid-rangey delivery on Eat The Elephant much more than here and even that record didn't blow me away
He's still got it live, but apparently he decided to conserve his voice by taking an extremely safe approach to vocals on the new songs. No one can tell me that any song on here has the vocal qualiities of songs like H, Schism, The Patient, Reflection, Parabola, The Pot etc etc. The closest track to that would be Tempest but aside from a gritty stlye it isn't really all that amazing

Go to 1.

Angriness != Emotional Highs
Reflection for example is very emotional but not angry in any way

He's singing like an angel, literally. For me is very emotional. It's different from other Tool albums for sure, but I love it.

I can see why you would dig it for that reason. That's the reason i liked his recent style more on Eat the Elephant

Don't tell me he wasn't angry as Hell on Wings of Marie, one of the more recent emotional highs.

Duhhhhh, that's his angriest song, every one and their grandmom knows that

MJK does not scream on this album. So what? The change from aenima to lateralus is huge too.
