Tbh this was an incredible entry point for me with these guys. Found it because of Charlie Simpson of fightstar of all people.

Doomed User is one of their best songs in my opinion.

^ ya that's a good one, probably a highlight for me

"it is still good compared to so many other bands"

Acid Hologram, Doomed User, t/t, Hearts/Wires & Rubicon are the great tracks here.

Everything ranges from decent-meh.

It's not really a bad album. It's great, it just kind of deflates when compared to Koi or WP, I guess. I still love it and come back to it every now and then.

I start to appreciate that gore has its own vibes. when it was released I ignored it for more than half a year (as a total deftones fan) because I didn't know what to do with it

I was the opposite, I binged it for about a month after buying it and then stopped for about a year or two. Lol

Nowadays it's nice to jump back in for a few tracks but rarely do I binge the whole thing

Vinyl will therapy that skipping behaviour. It's more of a commitment then

Just realized we’re (allegedly) supposed to get a new Tool, new Deftones and new Chevelle this year. Slipknot too, but I’m less optimistic/excited for that one. I feel like those guys are going to be stuck in mediocrity with occasional flashes of brilliance for however many more albums they make.
