Even though this and Jar of Flies are tied for favourite albums of the era, I still think Superunknown is a *better* album. That thing is monumental.

Superunknown has some unbelievable highlights but also some parts I don't find particularly impressive. This is pretty much great beginning to end.

I just take AiC out of any of those comparative conversations fully. Totally different beast. Considering them a grunge band has always irked me, even if they did come up in that [geographical] scene.

Grunge is kind of a nebulous genre anyway, like lots of people call the Smashing Pumpkins or Melvins grunge and I don't think they sonically fit the bill at all

Either way I think it's at least fair to compare AiC and Soundgarden, tons of classic rock/early metal influences in both

I never called Smashing Pumpkins Grunge but I dont see how Melvins wouldnt fit in considering how Sludgy this and Bleach are. Melvins were just a lot more filthy and heavy.

Grunge was more of a movement than a solidified genre anyways.

DIAH is my favourite AIC song, so heavy in every sense, especially lyrically

For me it's Dam That River. Its short, straight-forward, and kicks you square in the nuts from beginning to end.

Also that guitar solo mmph

I listened to this band as a kid but now they remind me of Brand New.
