Some here were saying they hated Jane Doe for a long time...well I first hated it, then I stuck at a 4 for a long time, almost preferring all other Converge records. Then it started slowly to convince me till I 4.5...now some times I bump it to 5 (when I don't give a fuck about the lyrics), other times when I remember the guy is trying to say absolutely nothing but still have a lot of fun with it end to end I go back to 4.5.

Am I listening to the same album as everyone else? I listened to the entire album on repeat over and over again at work, and time after time the only tracks that stood out to me were "Dark Horse" and "Cruel Bloom". The latter track gets originality points to me because it has a very Tom Waits on acid vibe to it.
The rest of the album is a snooze fest. Maybe it's my recent inability to get into heavy music. Maybe it's the fact that every song follows the same relative formula of being short, spastic, and intentionally painful on the ears.
As for being better than Jane Doe, Jane Doe was overrated to begin with, hardly deserving of the classic status it's been crowned. So I'd put this roughly on par with that album. Average. Painfully average.
Everyone, get off of Converges nuts. They are little more than disorganized noise with occasional moments of glory hidden amongst the mess.

Some interesting riffs, but jeez this is neither Metal nor Hardcore which makes it Metalcore which in turn makes it sound really gay. Whoever gives this a high rating has a really bad ear for not only Metal, but music in general.
This band (and many bands like this) clearly don't know how to structure their songs or know which riff flows into which one and there is no concept of soloing. So why even attempt to play something that sounds like Metal and is this shabby? I'm not denying that some riffs are catchy and the drumming is pretty tight, but the songs are just poorly made and the vocalist sounds like a peacock getting it's neck broken.
