didn't end up seeing them this past weekend but the whole concert is on YT and holy shite what an incredible performance. Amazing to see that their live shows are evolving and even improving as the band ages, always becomes more and more theatrical in some way

Doesn't look like they played anything from Koloss tho, or Chaosphere, which is odd since that's the album they're remastering

I feel like the longer Shug's career goes on, the more layered each successive record gets and thus the harder to parse they become. It is what separates them from the bands they inspire. Djent bands get more accessible over time, yet Meshuggah challenges the listener with more labyrinthine riffs.

Mostly agreed but I do think immutable was a step or 2 down from this

It also may be due to Frederik not being the main writer anymore. Lovgren and Hagstrom write most of the material now. On this record, Haake drove a lot of it, too, which can also help explain why it would be less accessible.

I still need to give Immutable my undivided attention.

Immutable is great but it trails off and loses me a couple times

This is just nonstop banger central. Monstrocity is cheeseballs but it doesn't even matter cuz every other song is a 10/5

It was, like, three steps down, but thankfully this still exists. 🤗

Monstrocity is one of the best songs here, if you can ignore the lyrics that is
