For me, this album is very close to being at the level of the classic Radiohead albums. I can see why a lot of people don't feel that way, but this album just hit me in a really unexpected and magical way.

I agree this is near the level of classic Radiohead it's just that Radiohead have so many classics imo (yes I'm a boring generic fuck but whatever) so this lands in the middle of their discog for me so by definitions consider this a middling Radiohead album but it's far far away from a middling album in the grand scheme.

The first time I listened to this album I watched a Northern California sunrise on the beach while I was camping with my wife. I watched the fishing ships leave out a nearby harbor. I saw the seagulls leaving their nests full of babies. I saw a group of sea otters asleep in a nearby kelp forest and holding hands to keep together. Every time I listen to this album I think of that moment.

like I'm sorry but Radiohead writing songs about climate change in 2016 is something I need about as much as a punch to the dick, especially when said songs are boring as fuck, especially when said songs are on an album where the tracklist is literally "instead of any new material here's all the old offcuts we couldn't be arsed to record before now: the album", ESPECIALLY when they didn't even put in the effort to put said songs into a fucking track order that wasn't alphabetical
