Yeah, you might just suddenly find a connection with it. For me Souvlaki did the job, with Souvlaki Space Station being my entry point and this followed very soon. Oh and the shoegaze elements The Gathering incorporated in albums like Souvenirs helped a lot.
There's something soothing yet gritty about those washes of fuzzy guitar that I can't ever seem to get enough of.
