"Im harsh on this record but i have also pointed out what i thought works (Aka ditch the shit forced metal and go for a dark pop vibe)"
or better yet just quit while they're ahead and cash out

This band would be good if they just continuously re-released their best track like Bethesda re-releases Skyrim. Give me Jaws and songs that sound like Jaws, or fuck off because that's the only good thing they've produced on 5~ albums.

I see the 3.5s are winning the ratings graph race at an uncomfortable margin with the 2.0s flying up quickly behind them.

I’ve honestly forgotten pretty much everything about this album aside from the vocals.
Like I vaguely remember the soundscapes and vibes of each song, but I literally can’t remember a single riff or anything that specific.

i def get why this is polarizing and why there's a lot of blowback but "only people who've never heard good music can" reeks of a mentality i wish would sincerely go away in music discourse. i almost feel like if you took everything here and replaced the vocalist it wouldn't be nearly as reviled?

nah it would still be fucking terrible

i mean... maybe it's just me but, i don't really see how? nothing here instrumentally is poorly played, poorly produced, etc. ymmv for writing quality but i'm a bit of a sucker for weirdly dynamic contrasts between piano-driven pop-style stuff and the "heavier" moments. it's like a djenty take on the "crescendocore" of yesteryear. maybe doesn't work for others but it works for me.

I shouldn't have to explain why I find this album good, every element they incorporate is well crafted and performed, whether that be the pop soul, pop r&b, trap, or metal elements. No it does not sound like Imagine Dragons, Hozier is a much better comparison. Like Hozier, the emotion is really able to come through vocally. Most songs are firmly rooted in alternative metal, some more so than others, but more often than not it will be centered around a heavily gratifying chuggy djenty climax. Theres some outliers be it Aqua Regia or Are You Really Okay?, but these songs are easily carried by Vessels vocal prowess, and top tier pop song craftsmanship.

eh nah its pretty bad. this is rather distastefully one of lowest common denominator albums ever to me, and i earnestly checked this band out (via a jesse cash recommendation no less lol)
"top tier pop song craftsmanship"

It has pop songs with 8 string chugging breakdowns, how is that lowest common denominator?
