I came out of hospital when this was out.
I remember seeing the promo and being super stoked, and then I had my fall:
Broke both my arms, shattered my pelvis, collapsed lung and brain hemorrhage- fortunately a neighbor found me after otherwise I'd might not be here.
Just the album art: the two girls falling from a tantalizing height & the lyrics for Same Logic:
'And then you cracked your head & broke some bones...'
I literally felt this album was and still is a part of me.
I'll never forget the beauty of discovering this gem- it may always remain a part of not just mine [yet all of our] history.

this album can work at getting people out of dark places. really the most uplifting brand new has ever been. I feel as this album gives the opportunity to cope with terrible past decisions, which gives it value despite the news of Jesse

Personally, I like to listen to sad music when I'm sad or struggling. Some people like to listen to up beat music to cheer them up, but I like to wallow in it. All personal preference.

Since everything went down, I've found that I still enjoy the music. But the "emotional" side that once resonated so much with me is just no longer there, and like most other BN fans, that was what made them fans in the first place.
Oh well.

unfortunately when ive caved and actually have gone back to this since the allegations the emotional side is still very much there rip really i wish i was able to give up these guys

Honestly hasn't effected my enjoyment of these guys at all. Don't really care at all tbh

The emotional connection works because, well, he was good at what he did. He was an insanely talented songwriter, and just 'cause he turned out to be a shitty guy outside of it doesn't mean he wasn't super skilled.
You shouldn't feel bad for enjoying their music, and you shouldn't want to give it up. As long as you don't defend his actions, I don't see anything wrong with carrying on with Brand New as you did before.

In hindsight I'm glad I saw them live once, even though I rarely listen to them anymore. Put up an amazing show in a small venue
