Gotta love how National fans can immediately refer back to interviews and other songs

I dunno tbh I remember listening to a radio interview back in 2012 or something where they claimed since having children the band wasn't the most important feature of their lives; supposedly they were going to go on creative clampdown or irregular touring/recording patterns, but Trouble Will Find Me arrived shortly thereafter and they've been touring religiously since. Maybe they'll take that time they earmarked now.

They've definitely hit that point, usually around 6 or 7 albums, where a lot of bands start to branch out into separate projects and new albums as a group are no longer a priority. Tbh it's a good thing, though, because it prevents ideas from being used up.

'Matt said "Lemonworld is an invented, sexy, weird place where you can escape from New York"'

Yeah I remember hearing in an interview something along these lines, that it was like a made-up, weirdo sex party to escape NYC or something

Well the run from Alligator to TWFM is one of the best ever, but it's gotta blow at some point. Eventually they'll let a poor song onto an album or have too many tracks or do something too similar to another album.

@Funeralopolis: Just my take, read into it what you will. It seems Matt Berninger himself has a slightly different interpretation than I do.

Well yeah I mean that's the best part. First listen their albums sound fine but slowly they reveal their intricacies.

This is the kind of music that seems as dull as dish water on the surface, but when a little time is given, it's brilliant.
