It's really close to a 4.5 for me. I'll probably bump it one day.

Fair enough, in your own time I suppose.
You'll be glad to hear I've been listening to Jethro Tull almost non-stop all day. I've listened to Minstrel and TAAB several times now and Aqualung, Passion Play and Heavy Horses once each. I've moved on to Genesis now though.

Awesome dude. What did you think of A Passion Play out of interest? Although you probably haven't been able to digest it fully yet having only listened to it once, it took me at least 5 listens before I began to fully appreciate it.

want some recs?

Yeah I thought it was interesting haha the Hare who Lost his Spectacles part was pretty massively wtf but aside from that I could dig it. As for Heavy Horses, I thought it was decent but probably the worst one I've listened to so far although the two longer tracks were amazing.
I just finished Foxtrot (man Supper's Ready is fucking cool) and I'm on Selling England for the second time. Correct me if I'm wrong but the drummer took over vocals are Gabriel left right?

Depends what style, Artuma.

Ah, that's a shame. That's one of my favourite albums of all time. It also has my favourite Tull song, Moths. Having said that, it did take me a lot of listens before I realised just how good it is. The lyrics on that album are some of the best I've ever heard.
|
| |
And yes that's correct about Genesis. Phil Collins took over vocals from A Trick of the Tale onwards.

Maybe it just needs more time to grow on me. I liked the lyrics but I prefer the ones on TAAB/Minstrel. Also I wasn't really a fan of the lower vocals in HH, what's with that?

Ok that's cool because I actually really like his vocals on More Fool Me it's a beautiful song.

Anderson's lyrics are a lot more down to earth on HH. Moths has my favourite lyrics of any song ever. The way he uses two Moths flying towards a flame as a representation of life/death is just genius and a prime example of why he's by far my favourite lyricist of all time. As for the vocals, I personally love the way he changed his vocal approach on that album, I think it really suits the style of the album.

I don't think so Artuma
I dunno he still sounded good on that album but I miss those kinda wavering high notes he did on TAAB and Minstrel they sound incredible

Never been a huge fan of that song, it's actually one of the reasons (along with I Know What I Like) why I find Selling England to be a bit inconsistent. Gabriel is by far the more talented vocalist out of the two but I can certainly see why Collin's vocals appeal to some people (I actually like them a lot on A Trick of the Tale).

Yeah I have to say I Know What I Like is pretty rubbish haha but I really enjoy the simplicity of More Fool Me. After the Lamb I'll take a listen to some of Collins'-era stuff and see if I like it. Which is the best album with him on vocals?
|
| |
A Trick of the Tale is easily the best album with him on vocals imo. I'd say only that album and Wind & Wuthering are really the only Collins-fronted albums that can be classed as prog. After W&W Steve Hackett (the guitarist) left, along with most of the prog aspects of their sound.

Yeah I got the impression that they changed for the worse after that, especially considering the average rating for basically every album except Duke
