I’m a loyalty apologist but the production on that album is so god damn boring. The coolest thing about it is the fact he rapped the whole second half of DNA acapella in the booth and Mike will made it built the beat around it (even though that second half of the beat is annoying as fuck)

If you wanna cut God and Love whatever but Loyalty is not going anywhere

Mr. Morale would probably be bordering 4.5 without Kodak Black. That's the only reason I would suspect his disses toward Drake may not have fully been about excising the rap game of predators; having a predator on Mr. Morale is certainly a look.

I always kinda took that as him trying to reach out to a talented “troubled youth” who was going down the wrong path, but then having savior on that same album is pretty funny

Brother I rated that years ago. I don’t even listen to Wayne now. You have Eminem on that list, he hasn’t had a good album since TES. I can acknowledge Wayne is washed but doesn’t change he’s at least top 10. You’re corny. I can promise your phone is filled with “rap is like a mountain memes” lol

Looking back at my ratings though, I forgot I gave Kendrick those 5 damn. I have DS2 too low.

@botb: I guess? But isn't Kodak a literal convicted rapist? That's the issue I always had

I choose to ignore the hypocrisy from the beef and just focus on who cooked who. Look too deep and gotta acknowledge Kendrick actually doesn’t care. He had Dr Dre up on that stage starting NLU. Everyone knows what Dre has done.

oh no doubt Kendrick cooked Drake. But if I had to offer any criticism it's that.

"if we're crossing off rappers forever, it's uh not a short list so get busy" oh i hear ya just find it very interesting that the beef crossed into that territory considering that. Some shitbirds less evil than others type deal. All for anything that mocks Drake tho

Loyalty is horrendous and so is Rihanna

"Cut Loyalty, Love, and God from DAMN and it goes from a 7/10 to a 9/10 album. Those are the only tracks on a Kendrick album I'd genuinely call mid to bad. Even on Mr Morale I actually went from thinking it had some skippable tracks, to now thinking every song is essential and enjoyable in its own way. Far better than Damn, and this album imo"

I agree with about 90% of this take, except that it's far better than this album. I think MM and this are pretty close, with MM having the edge ofc, but don't sleep on this either. It's a different Kenny again, but I'm definitely feeling the menacing, almost "gangsta" personality of this shit

Yeah and I find the identity he’s going for on this one to be really strong and enjoyable, I am kind of fighting over if I like this or Damn more at the moment though lol
