Album started nicely then it kinda tried to bore me to death. Luckily it didn't succeed. I prefer hardcore emo over indie rock emo so that explains my perception of this. But I get why people may like this a lot. It is probably a grower, if I force myself to relisten.

think the more I listen to this the less I like it unfortunately. set some time aside tonight specifically to revisit it and 5 songs in I was skipping through

This hits me as a more accessible The Armed

Haha, i kinda get that "The Armed" comparison on the opener at least because of the noisy soundscape on the chorus if it can be called that
|
| |
the armed is a good comparison and also cogent illustration of why so much of this misses the mark for me (the thought of the armed using their zany loudshit as a springboard for overbearing sertraline diaries, God-shaped angst and We Live In A Society moments is p insufferable to me)

Johnny check the new Armed song asap

Hell yeah I threw a The Armed comparison few pages back.. this thing feels pretty much like Perfect Saviors but better haha, it's a mess, weird ambient noises in the background all the time, plus some of the most screamed passages are pretty much hitting as hard as stuff from Ultrapop. Which is cool and I'd never guess to hear that in a Foxing record!

“I feel like I'm in a dream that's described by friend
I am in but have no interest in hearing”
jesus that line fucking hits

Greyhound really might be their best song ever. Unbelievable that they are currently 2/2 in releasing the best track on the record as lead singles lmao

im glad i held off on greyhound bc its def a top tier song here but i still think hall clears this album
most of the more melodic cuts are honestly best here. would not mind if they went full national for their next lp. between hall of frozen heads and lambert, theyd be pretty good at it

Probably my second or third.
Also want to point out that the basslines on Barking are some of the best shit I’ve ever heard. that Cleaning and Barking combo hit me like a fucking train.
I hope they pull a Draw Down the Moon and just play the record in its entirety.

Secret History, Hell 99, Greyhound, Looks Like Nothing, Gratitude ROCK...
The rest of this album not so much. I don't think its going to be a matter of the rest clicking or getting better over time either. Will just pretend this is a 5.0 ep.

surprised that hell 99 and looks like nothing have been widely considered highlights here. outside of the two songs i outright dislike here, id rank em both at the bottom

So how many listens before this starts hitting? I'm at about 15 run throughs finding very little reason to come back to it compared to their other records. A few good songs but y'all are overhyping this way too much

Track’s 10 (Dead Cat) and 11 (Dead Internet) really bring this down. They are not needed imo

swap dead internet with cry baby and i agree. really trying but i cant seem to warm up to that song lol
dead internet beats ass though. realized the other day that conors melody on that is soundgarden as fuck which is only a good thing here. i j took its transition out of dead cat, faded it rising out of the gratitude ending, and boom problem solved

I'm a Dead Cat apologist. I don't think it's nearly as bad as everyone says and I even like it.
Shitting on Dead Internet is flat out wrong though, song is gritty as fuck.
