Yeah early I thought 'am I getting whiplash from the stylistic changes?' but no, I liked that on this album, it's something in the mix and the way the ideas are presented, maybe overstuffed.



I still really like the album but that thing of half of my favourite choruses (and verses too tbh) all being on the one album presented in this haunted house/down and out aesthetic was so subversive and fun on 'Padded Room'. Like 'the most f'cked up pop album' of the year...there are some songs that live up to that billing on the new one but not as many. Camgirl is more about the overall grind, bit more of a thick suffocating atmosphere.



Yeah, it's still good and I like that it's just different enough to have a new personality for the band.

yeah the concept of crippled pop music is the coolest thing where say ladies night could almost pass as a club friendly danceable goth banger (it still can) or I have a key to your house could almost pass as a basement esque alt metal anthem but then they go and throw in some deranged vocal and noise rock section or some slight dissonance in otherwise uplifting melodies like the spectre at the feast



They probably could have explored and integrated it even better but for what it is they did a pretty awesome job and it's on another level even to bands known for their loud/soft dynamics

Like Jesus fucking christ way to go from that hilarious shit to one of the darkest lines I’ve heard all year. They really came through with the “pop music for suicidal freaks” mission statement.

This new one really might be a 5. I was a somewhat worried that all the features might feel a distracting or out of place but I think they add that lil extra spice that the last one was missing. I love this guy’s vocals but a full hour of it did get kinda repetitive.
