In terms of Canada the Tragically Hip are up there, although their music wasn't exactly reinventing the wheel. Kinda feel like you have to be Canadian to really resonate with the themes and lyrics etc, otherwise you would probably find them a bit samey.

Era Vulgaris is bland, hollow, and suffers from repetitive riffs and some of the worst lyrics Homme has ever written. I gave that album 4 seperate listens, and the slower tracks I seem resonate more for me. It's definitely bottom of the barrel Queens for me.
