Precambrian is one of those huge albums that sometimes happen and no proficiency can create. This stuff happens when a special force from the universe gifts something to talented people temporarily

I think their only album that's not great is heliocentric, and even that one has bangers

'I love the synths' [2]

The pre Loic stuff would be a lot better if they had just one vocalist on it.

Precambrian with Loic handling vocals would be an interesting release...

Loic is worse than the Precambrian era singers in every aspect, he's got this raspy 42-yo drunkard singing voice. His harshes are prime tho

His cleans seem a bit shot but honestly I feel like it just makes it unique. Its not shot in the avenged sevenfold way.

If you like the synths and don't care for the vocals, you might check 'Limbus' from their synth player, which includes a few cuts and themes from this album.

This is the way.

Precambrian is a very amazing record and now I get sad every time I listen to it because of Caleb's passing, bad enough I gotta feel it every time I listen to Cave-In, but those Great Blue Cold screams go so hard.

Pelagial is incredible but it does seem to be the entry level record for a lot of people, but also while I do prefer the Phanero records and Precambrian for the most part I don't think it's miles below those records by any metric and a lot of my preference is just for personal taste.

Loic definitely has the gravely cleans that can be very hit or miss, I think on record for the most part he's great but he does dip out of key/not maintain his tone very well live sometimes, which to be fair that's a pretty difficult style of cleans to execute perfectly especially night after night on a tour vs in a studio setting.

I think the best execution of that style of vocal I've ever seen live was Intronaut, those guys are both playing guitar and also locking in harmonies as tight as I've ever heard, definitely one of the best live bands.
