True yeah. And some do come for the huge thrash vibe this and None/DEI have.
So many 4.5 and above records.

I ordered Nothing and this came in the case instead. Primitive but impressive and the thrash metal vibe is sick.
|
| |
I guess if they got an order wrong, receiving Meshuggah's first album by mistake is better than nothing!!!!!!!!!!! ;-]

Great stuff always enjoy jamming it, and sounds like you got two records for the price of one if you hit them up about the error so thatβs sick

Niiiiice!
Sometimes I wonder what people would have thought about this record if the cover was a better fit with the music. It's not at all tooooooo different from DEI, it's much more primitive of course, but those averages suggest they're W~O~R~L~D~S apart and that isn't true at all. Poor lable decision that might just have an effect on how this is perceived decades after the fact.
Imagine this having a nice, Meshuggah-y cover, nicely primitive, it would work so well and sell this record wayyyyyyy better/have people go in with an open mind!

Super addictive record. Took a while for it to click, but ever since it did I feel the urge to listen to it every week or so ahah.

I can imagine that the cover was at least a subconscious decision by the band, because it's clearly resembles AJFA and they were obviously influenced by Metallica at that time

It was a lable decision I thought. They were offered three pictures that they could choose from and this was the one they hated the least, I remember reading that somewhere.
Either way I think it is misleading, similarities to Metallica or not. Maybe mainly in retrospect, that's true.

This could be the best meshuggah but it goes on for too long and should probably be chopped in half. The best stuff on this album goes fuckin hard but DEI is definitely their best

Yeah i popped this in in the gym yesterday and it got really repetitive after a while.
DEI has more variability and is more conicise

Very true, DEI is superior in every way. Still super glad this exists though, so much to enjoy here.

i also think most of thordendal's solos are kinda whack on this album, they're too wonky and weird for the thrashy music

Personally really love them, but they are pretty in your face, so I get they're distracting if they're nota good match for you here.
