everyone needs to start somewhere and if people are close-minded about whatever they just jumped into, then that's their loss / why did they even bother? etc.

well deafheaven is old in pop terms and I think sunbather prolly is a good gateway for people who werent gonna check shit before that

I always want to know where things came from, and what influenced genres and styles as they progressed, so I think it’s generally a good approach to always know the history of things.

most people just listen to things they like tho, I get that that kind of deep understanding isn’t always what everyone is looking for.
