I don't know what it says, but I am a ways into the final track and I like it way more than album proper. Her songwriting doesn't quite stick the landing for me, but her ambient work is actually really engrossing. The ebb and flow of it is smooth.

I've gotta be in the right headspace to listen to the whole album, but I can always listen to multiple tracks in isolation

yep, 2-3 tracks from the second half + sometimes Electric is the norm for me, so overwhelming going through the whole thing

Too Dead Inside, Bites on My Neck, Eyes, and Don't Be So Hard still get regular play from me despite not having listened to the album front to back in a while. I'm surprised there's a new album on the horizon... wait, it's been like a year and a half since Softscars. Really doesn't seem like it's been that long.

Fr and it was about the same between this and Softscars. Think that album has had the least staying power of all of theirs for me, still dig it and the highlights are absurd, but its nu-gaze palette has soured on me generally and I think a lot of its emotional resonance stemmed from how well it worked as a foil to this one's despair
and yes lol softscars destroying this might just edge out MC x deftones for worst take of the day

"but its nu-gaze palette has soured on me generally and I think a lot of its emotional resonance stemmed from how well it worked as a foil to this one's despair"
This hits the nail on the head. I was very into it initially, but it has diminishing returns, whereas this is still a bonafide classic. Some of the tracks on Softscars are incredible though and would feature in a top 10 Yeule playlist, if I could be bothered to make one

One of my fav things about Yeule is that my top 10 would probs be a 1:1:1 split between their three albs, and this makes me apprehensive for the new one (but ofc excited)

SEROTONIN II is peak.
I was in love with “Pretty Bones” for the better part of 2019.

I think it’s probably the same for me. Looking over the tracklist for Serotonin, I’d easily take at least 3 from it (Blue Butterfly, Pretty Bones, and Eva… I think).
Have you heard anything from the new album? Looks like one of the songs streaming is the album closer, which I’m going to avoid like the plague lol. Actually I’m gonna just avoid all previously released tracks. That’s a bad habit of mine I’ve been trying to change

agreed with softscars being better than this, could never get into this one no matter how many times I tried
hype for new album tho!

Pretty Bones and Reverie are the ones from Serotonin (with maybe one of Angel Held Me Like a Child, Eva or Pocky Boy), and I hear echoes of those two all over this, missed their vibe on Softscars though
I've heard the new singles, not sure on my take yet but I've rarely enjoyed Yeule singles as standalones (other than Friendly Machine) — new sound is more guitary alt-pop from what I recall, less gazey than Softscars and more grungey. The closer track is a short shock piece similar to Mandy, don't understand why they released it in advance but it'll probs play completely differently on the alb

Avoiding listening to anything off their upcoming album so I can go into it fresh and experience it as a whole and not subconsciously compare what I haven’t heard with what I had. Insta-preordered the new one tho

least it keeps up the trend of the second half of every yeule album being conspicuously better than the first (if only bc the first half is by far the weakest thing they've ever put out)
