I heard from somewhere (possibly this thread) that there are varying recording qualities floating around out there. Someone specifically named Spotify as a poor one. Is there any truth to this? Because if so I'd love for folks who are writing this off based on production to hear it proper.

it'd be really great if people used this as a launching pad to stop using spotify altogether tbh

I use Spotify for almost all of my music with some good quality speakers and it’s fine

I don’t see how anyone can listen to this album on Spotify and feel it’s holding it back

Eh the album's great but on neutral headphones it does sound ass to me on spotify premium. Like Dagger should be brimming with life with all its layers and yet it sounds empty because many details are brushed aside and the percussion has no lower body. Also the guitars in general are so dry and thin, Gigantium could have sounded so much bigger.

Anyway it'll probably sound a lot better on equipment that is eq'd by default (in fact it sounds better on the non-neutral headphones I use while commuting) but the fact that a lot of music today somehow sounds worse on neutral equipment is such a trigger of mine. Like can't you just produce it well gosh fuckin dang it

Bumping my rating a bit after three whole listens, I am in love with how fresh this all sounds even while keeping their signature sound.

Pika, I have compared the hi-res version with the cd one and this is one of those cases where I really couldn't tell any difference.

PS: I have very good audiophile equipment

The guitars sound much fuller and more layered, if that makes any sense
