>wanna leave Canada soon and have nice weather year round, but I also don’t want to go to jail for having edibles

I live in northern Cali and the weather is nice. It’s hotter here in the summers than the southern coast but the winters only scrape freezing a couple times a year in the mornings

AZ is an option. my grandma lived there and liked it. and I don’t mind heat and deserts are cool

"but also, america"
if you're in canada you may want to stay there so you dont end up paying out the ass for medical bills like we all do

if youre tryna be a software engineer and make bank then america is the place to be tho
i assume thats what you wanna do colton
|
| |
yeah i don’t like that or the super divisive culture/politics but ontario’s economy is absolute dogshit right now. owning a house is a pipedream here
|
| |
it is but if I can work remotely I can go anywhere right

Yeah that’s why a lot of people from San Fran area are buying huge houses in my area

As long as when they say remote they actually mean that and not "but can you also be hybrid :]"

is that really still true? prob my deepest contact in that scene whos worked for a few of the biggest giants said there was way too much laying off and outsourcing to india. its been some years since then though. the field is generally lucrative in almost any country otoh

The 40c heat temporarily made me consider moving to Iceland, hot weather sucks
|
| |
true steak i hear that’s happening a lot now
and yeah it sucks in america too but pretty sure ontario is one of the worst places for that right now, even compared to the US

if youre half decent and live in a big city then its still not hard to find a good job. theres beginning to be a bottleneck at the entry level positions but once you have like 3 years under your belt then you have recruiters in your dm's every day. idk how much outsourcing/laying off there is yet, but so far it doesnt seem to be affecting the job market too much

to be clear and honest the convos im drawing from were mostly from like 2015-2018 he was based in LA and was in a pretty good position himself other than being hideously overworked, but he told me throughout this time that there were a lot of layoffs all over and growing frustration with how much work on projects was outsourced to teams whose work he wasnt happy with
|
| |
rip yeah i dont doubt that its happening at some companies. in general though the market is still red hot. hope he found another job
|
| |
he wasnt laid off thankfully but he did switch some time later cuz of all the overtime n shit
but yea finding a position with his resume wasnt hard since he interned at google and intel and worked for two other very big ones that i prob shouldnt name just in case lol
