Lol true it's full-on Hetfield, but I mean the Oriental riff towards the end of the solo(s) is priceless.

That's so weird to me, but apparently I'm the outlier on that track

You're welcome. I like Heafy's voice enough but he can't pull off something like that. It really really doesn't work hahaha. It's a shame cause the rest of the song is fun.

how is this the most highly regarded trivium album here, it's so mid compared to previous work, i even liked vengeance falls over this (which i think is underrated)

Shogun is still my fave but this is pretty damn close for me, and sure the variety makes me like some parts more than others, but it's hard to say this isn't a fine effort.

I do think VF is a bit underrated (Incineration is a great song), but I can understand the hate towards it cause of Draiman's influence.

You could probably argue that the awesome album art might be boosting ratings as well lol.

yeah the artwork rules, best thing about this. i don't get it, this album just feels like a rehash of the previous two records to me.

I didn't even realize until today that Ihsahn was the one who helped with the arranging and orchestrations for the album. Fucking crazy, lol

Matt said he would be dropping his long rumored solo-black metal album rather soon... I'd bet Ihsahn will have a role in that

I'd be interested. It's ancient history, but I love the tracks he wrote for RR Sessions with King Diamond and Dani Filth. Showed he had an ear for it.

yes, i like the album that has an overall darker and more emotive atmosphere over bootleg Shogun with every trope that i like to ignore on that album amped up lol

bootleg Shogun is a great way to put it, factual. I'd probably pick In Waves over this.
