Yes I considered your order closely.
For mine writing on the wall is a great follow up track to that blinder first track, essentially blows everyone away.
The acoustic intro I think works as the main single at track no 2.
Then Lost in a lost world is a change of pace, that brooding intro, longer tune etc.
LIALW has that long mellow outro though, so it’s a bit of a pallet cleanser for Senjutsu to then start like a new resetting
If Senjutsu was placed here though it could start right with the first guitar chord, and delete the drum intro etc.
Stratego follows it up as it does on the album proper.
Darkest Hour next has that seashore intro and I feel really feels like the start to side B and at song 6 here it still is
Whilts it’s a longer tune its not too extensive, so that allows one of the real epics to follow it.
Death of the Celts with that intro works well here.
Then the time machine brings some mood and some kick arse riffs when needed at track 8.
And then the Parchment and Hell on Earth placements remain unchanged.
AMOLAD has two epic closers and this would too.

"I don’t hear that at all haha the guitars are respectfully placed in the mix with everything else. If anything, Bruce feels like the one who’s buried in the mix"
He is pretty loud for me haha, although he does have a weird "mumbly" sound at times. I'm using neutral headphones so I imagine we are hearing different eqs, however the fact we both have clear gripes means something went wrong (there's also some bad clipping on Spotify Premium sadly).
To be precise in Writing I hear loud and clear the guitar on the right at 2:20, but the one on the left at 1:55 that plays during the singing is nearly inaudible for me.
Anyway I'm mildly excited to give this another go. The soloing in Darkest Hour got me good and the title track feels surprisingly fresh.

I'm definitely teetering between a 3.5 or a 4 on this album but I have yet to decide which.
Either or, this is definitely my favorite IM album by far.
EDIT: Yep it's a 4. Senjutsu is a Hell of an opener.

that repetitious build up in Lost In A Lost World is so damn cathartic when the guitar changes

The title track was the one that grew on me the most. Hope it's the opening track of the upcoming tour.

Finally listening to this.
The album get going by track 3, I'd say. The opener begins promising, but I didn't feel it beyond that. Stratego didn't grab my attention. Writing on the Wall rules though. Awesome track.
