Despite my low rating for it, I can see myself bumping this a .5 in the future. Quoting something a few pages back:
"I was mostly being facetious when I referred to this as basically just ambient music, but I won't deny that I've been listening to it from an ambient mindset. Usually I will only ever listen to ambient music while I read because I like the noise to be disengaging enough to blur out while still providing ~atmosphere~ to my reading, and this has served quite well as my ambient reading music. I wouldn't usually listen to black metal while readin, but this is soft enough that it works"
In this context I can def see the appeal, 'Flug' is great. This type of BM just isn't my cuppa tea I guess. Also it being summer now might have something to do with it. Very, very interesting release nonetheless, and worthy of the respect it gets.

I'm totally on board with putting this off til winter.

Dis gud
Honestly I find a lot of black metal to be just as suitable for stifling summer heat & humidity as it is for frigid, brutal winters

this has the same rating as Das Tor even though everyone who's heard both would probably agree this is an order of magnitude better
such is the curse of exposure

ya I was good with them all under LPs

sounds like a paysage album basically
I like it but not sure where it ranks among the back catalogue
also I see sowing 2’d another acclaimed metal album for being the wrong genre

This times a thousand.

It really depends on how I'm feeling tbh. Listening to music based on seasons is weird to me.
|
| |
I’ve lived in wintery places and I’ve lived near the beach, and I definitely listened to very different music in each place. I definitely think weather and scenery have a big impact on setting the mood for music

@Razoredge That is very true actually now that I think about it. Although there is very summery music for sure. And autumny stuff. But overall I agree yes.

Maybe all of us who think the weather has an effect just have seasonal affective disorder

"It really depends on how I'm feeling tbh. Listening to music based on seasons is weird to me."
Also depends on if you get to experience all four seasons like I do in Nordic Europe for example. Come autumn / winter I am definitely spinning Summoning, Agalloch, Panopticon, Burzum and assorted dungeon synth artists more than usual.
