Yeah. To be fair, most of their songs were drug related haha.

on here definitely but on the s/t they kind of broadened out to generally death-related themes as opposed to just drug addiction

Yeah. They stuck with 3 main themes I think. Drugs, Death, Internal Torment(including loneliness).

They weren't a band for lyrical experimentation, but damn they wrote good lyrics anyway.

Did you know that Layne wrote almost all of the s/t songs?

Yeah, I believe Cantrell wrote the lyrics to songs like Grind, Again, etc. The heavier ones, coincidence or not.

i know people always say they hate the mellower tone in the music/layne's voice on the s/t, but I seriously think it adds power in some weird way. probably why i like shame in you so much

I like it mostly because it was a nice change of pace. They weren't going for Dirt pt.2

I think they kept it interesting and it only had a couple "meh" songs. Definitely not as much as people make them out to be.

i think i would still call myself a fanboy if only because this was my favorite band for ages and even

though they aren't now i would still eat up basically anything these guys do

Agreed. Only been listening for about 5 years, but still... I would take them over anyone else.

i'm just pretty bummed out i'll never get the chance to see layne live, which would have been like the defining moment of my childhood. speaking of which i still bang my head against a wall sometimes for missing these guys with hurt. that was like my childhood on tour right there and i missed it.

Don't feel bad, I haven't been to a concert that want Christian music (because of my parents)
