Jamey Jasta just has that touch of "stabbed with a fork" in his vocals that sets himself apart from the pack.

That, Perseverance, and Brutality are all decent but beyond that, band is so one note.

"That, Perseverance, and Brutality are all decent but beyond that, band is so one note."
An okay song here and there. I can still listen to it, but I'd forgotten all about it once it's over. I'd say they're still a fun live act, but not because of the quality of Jasta's vocals.
Jasta is a solid frontman who knows how to rile up a crowd, but vocally he's godawful live.

Kind of like what his face from Unearth, I love his vocals on record but live they just don't seem that great. Then again, I might be nitpicking awful quality youtube vids and maybe just bad days.

leku200 Yup it is not possible on an individual level. Of course taste will differ vastly from person to person. I am more or less trying to figure out what the general consensus is because it is interesting. From what I've experienced and from what other people have shared with me I can at least talk about the difficulty of certain styles of screaming. Difficulty is a factor because if styles sound "just as good" in a vacuum, the more difficult style will be considered better because of rarity.
I take into account the many reactions to different vocal styles I got when showing different screaming styles to people who are not into screaming for example. When they listened to exhale high volume/loudness screaming (Corey Taylor/Iowa or Jens Kidman/Destroy Erase Improve, Meshuggah) the reactions included words like "intense" "aggressive" up to "too harsh". Most of the people described the other styles (inhale screams, grunts and so on) as "weird" "boring/monotonous"(inhale grunts) or "funny" which would not match the original intent I suppose. This would partly explain why bands or whole genres stay relatively unpopular instead of breaking through like Slipknot. We don't need to consider the fact that in different bands or music vocals will have a different priority or a different purpose because I am strictly talking about vocals in a vaccuum, cage fight.
