ngl i really did not like the first minute of the album at all lol it had me very worried. all the trophy scars-esque stuff is not landing for me
leaving montreal is rad otherwise tho the sax is a lovely touch

3.5 feels fair. closer and martin bell were prolly my favorites
the trophy scars swagger (which did not sell me ever and i dont think it will lol way way too basic of passages for this sound its detriment to pretty much every song imo) is fortunately balanced out by l e g e n d a r y sax integration

I wouldn't say those passages are super innovative, but the way they work in the -core framework with the sax is where the magic happens. I was definitely on the fence when I first heard this, especially the opening track, but I grew to adore it over time.

def agree that they generally make sense within the core framework but they j sound like they come from a much worse band in the overall context of this specific record (everything is like the same three scale degrees and that is genuinely my kryptonite in any context lmao). most of this is going pretty above and beyond in every other aspect but that j makes me feel more like this should be the type of core band that should know better lol
its fun and rad and definitely carves its own identity otherwise tho. i will def jam the debut too

Debut is much more fuzzy and brings in more of the post-metal from their post-metalcore sound. You might end up liking it more than this tbh, I think it's pretty underrated overall.
