Not the worst, but not the best. I personally like MoP more, but this and Ride are tied.

Lars is a shit drummer and I'll never understand why Metallica fans insist on claiming that Kirk is one of the best guitarists of all time. He doesn't write any of the music and his guitar skill are nothing special.

Yeah Lars was pretty good on this album.

One of my old favs, but i got MOP over this and Blackend is still an amazing opener and James sounds his best.
|

Yeah, i guess wasn't too bad on this album. His biggest contribution to the band definitely is his writing and not his very overrated drumming.

This is my favorite Metallica album. In 1988, I was waiting for this album with great anticipation...and I was not disappointed. I still remember where I was when I heard it the first time (walking the distance between school and shopping mall, missed a class to buy it!) . Blackenend is still the first song that I play in a new sound system when I want to test it! You can imagine my disappointment a few years later when they released the Black album. That was a terrible shock, honestly.

My fave Metallica album too. Heavy, aggressive, proggy. Intro to Blackened rules. Black album deflating. Change in musical direction along with Bob Rock led to James doing annoying intonations with his voice (whoa, yeah, shamoa and w/e else).
