Album has its meander-ish moments but my god, when it hits it HITS.
Closer is stupidly good.

the moment that kills this album from being a masterpiece is 'an invisible wagon, with invisible seats' its like shit son you couldn't have thought of anything better than that. it sounds so goofy.

Rym pasta from the Ichneumondiae page: Very ugly music. It's almost as if it's meant to be unlistenable. Generic contemporary avant-garbage. You know the kind. A violin plays some notes at random, and then some other instruments play some notes at random. This continues until the end of the recording. Nothing happens. Nothing builds. It just moves from random notes to random notes with lots and lots of empty space. College-educated 'modern classical' throwaway crap that virtually no one will ever listen to or care about because it has no human element. I don't believe anyone actually likes this music. I do believe people will pretend to like it to seem intelligent.
Honestly where’s the lie here

Ugh do we have to take this seriously? Fine. That piece was written for dance so treating either its listenablity or development as worthless in isolation is quite silly - but more importantly Supercrescentus of Eros is gorgeous. One of TD's most overlooked pieces, and since it has a motif I can remember immediately not having heard it in a while, I'm gonna call the bluff on the composition being random

I’m mostly joking, yeah the specifics of that take are a bit exaggerated but honestly this struck me as some of the most painfully pretentious music I’ve ever heard; the lyrics were a big part of that. A whole lot of nothing dressed up as Important Stuff. It’s not unpleasant or I’m not a harsh enough grader to rate it truly “bad” but a certain air about it just made it very unpleasant for me.

Yeah I never jam Inchnuemonidae besides the one listen a few years back... it's one of his worst, albeit being proficiently played. Very cold music.

It's comfortably in the bottom half of his discog, but I'd stick it ahead of Blasphemy and (sorry) Plastic House for cert. Boney, if you're getting those vibes from this, you owe it to yourself to dip into Ichneumondiae ;]

Toby would probably disagree, so for me anyway, the lyrics are not the important thing with his music. It's everything else.

I don't disagree, just think the music is good enough to supersede it. I feel the same about Rush's cheesy lyrics.

I was quoting boneyking actually. I don't care about lyrics in music either.

Oh.

Pretentious music does not exist.

Very similar album cover to Justin Bieber's latest. Coincidence? I think not.

still, The National and Radiohead are a couple of the lamest and most overrated bands on earth. someone in this comment section should be ashamed.

Finally listening to this, popped up on shuffle occassionally but this is so much better in full. When you're in the mood for this the ambience shines

Yeah agreed, was going to say this album is perfect for a certain mood. The album art is perfect for it as well
