He said there hasn't been a better time to be homosexual than now, especially in the western world. I listed 4 historical examples of societies that fully accepted or even encouraged homosexuality, 2 of which were in the "western world".

there hasnt been a better time for homosexuals to exist than today ... especially in the west. if u fail to recognize this i feel truly sorry for u.

If trying to imply that America is perfect for LGBT peeps you're wrong. Yes,things are better than they have been but we still have less rights than your average citizen for being ourselves, if you don't see a problem with that since we live in the land of the free, idk what to tell you. Republicans are constantly trying to strip us of our rights under the guise of "religious freedom".
And LGBT people face some of the highest rates of hate crimes, especially trans women of color. There's stories of transwomen being murdered and let off with a misdemeanor. Yes there has been some progress but under the Trump administration, were scared of the progress that can be undone. If you care about human rights in general you should care too.

"we live in an age where the mere claim of sexual harassment is able to demolish entire long ass careers in a blink of an eye."

Yeah let's totally ignore how hard it is to win sexual harassmentment claims, sexual harassment at work is still a huge issue and definitely does happen more often than you think.

it's a little more complicated than 'there's still real sexual crimes out there so just deal with it'

false accusations can and already have destroyed lives, let's not take that shit lightly. People just love to put up the torches and pikes nowadays, worst of all they just do harm and only harm, never something constructive came out of a witch hunt.

Idk, Trump kinda flip flops on a lot of issues he might be somewhat more accepting but he referred to the community as "the gays" lol. The real problem with Trump is the people he appoints to various seats as they are often hyper religious and want to do what they can to make it harder for the LGBT community, these appointees do the damage.

"The Greek attitude to same-sex attraction was not nearly as permissive or free as many have assumed. Any idealised view of the Greeks falls apart the moment one remembers – and yet how easy it seems to be to forget – that ancient Greece was a society where slave-ownership was prevalent and that slaves were regularly sexually exploited by their masters. Yes, the Greeks tolerated same-sex attraction, but they also tolerated the violent sexual abuse of men and women in a manner that nobody could countenance today. Even amongst free-born men, Greek same-sex courtship was highly regulated. Violating these rules lead to social death; We have numerous accounts of same-sex affairs that go badly resulting in murder and suicide."

wow. what a time to be alive. i want to go back. regulated homosexuality. even worse, theres very little know about same-sex attracted women in ancient Greece, but u can bet it wasnt entirely rosy ... and plato himself was dismissive of same-sex relations, regarding them as unnatural and not fit for proper society. theres a difference between history and nostalgia that u certainly do not understand. welp ... guess ur 'reeeeeee' sensors are going to collapse now.

im not even going to bother to research on ur other stuff because - politically & globally speaking - the acceptance of homosexuality is at its peak in history. to this extend that has never been the case before. in the west u can do everything u want as a gay man/woman, even the biggest fortresses (marriage etc) are falling and opening up for gay people. there will always be cases of abuse/discrimination, even in a perfect gay utopia but that doenst take away anything from the current state ...

the appointee thing is true though i wouldnt be overly worried about actual regressive legislative changes, rhetoric may prop up about abortion or gay marriage but its just right wing pandering, to actually act would be political suicide

plus when he says dumb shit like "the gays" its more just a reflection of his lack of social intelligence than malicious intent though the media jumps on him for it at every turn

that is not the point of what im saying. its completely absurd that society is heading towards a direction where it is accepting unproven claims by single people in order to condemn and socially shun someone else. even idiotic tweets can be enough to demolish someone elses life. back to middle ages it is i guess.

It’s the faux outrage over everything that really fucks me off. Get over it and yourself for fucks sake.

The problem is that any claims that can't be proven the public automatically think they're false.
I was sexually harassed at my job, I tried reporting it, more than likely nothing will come of it. I experienced some psychological damage as a result, all I wanted was for him to know that he was wrong and to be sure it wouldn't happen to anyone else. If a crowd of people that told me to stop making false claims that would make a bad situation a shitty one. There are a lot of situations like this that happen to your everyday citizen. I'm not saying false accusations do not happen but I don't think it's some problem that's out of hand in society.

@Chuck I can only hope you are right, but time will tell. I have a problem with Trump himself on other issues and not so much LGBT stuff.

lmao that is wrong on so many levels, its comical. the opposite is true. what u describe is how it _SHOULD_ be indeed. that is the right and fair thing to do after all; suspects inoccent until proven guilty. this principle - the presumption of innocence - is a core element of our democratic culture that has been completely forgotten and ignored in recent years. unproven accusations capable of wrecking ppls lifes. we have observed it countless times now. if u think that is a problem not worth mentioning i have no business talking to u anymore.

What the public thinks =/= a conviction

Pretty sure the courts still abide by the rule innocent until proven guilty sooo

Thinking the claim is false because it can't be proven isn't exactly a neutral position either, you're more on the side of the suspect.

by your your logic what happened to me is imaginary because the guy probably won't see any consequences and therefore I'm just some psycho trying to ruin his life for no reason.

If my claim went public people would probably call me a liar even though I would never lie about something like this and since it wasn't proven it is false. Lol

worst part of it all is this climate of 0 tolerance towards sexual missconduct has made it even more difficult for actual victims since, like your case where you apparently can't get enough evidence, the only thing you can legally do is try to get a confession, and the general climate is if you admit wrong-doing you are basically done for professionaly, whether it be rape or something not even remotely as bad, so people's outrage just manged to make it even more hard to get confessions now, since it's way safer to just keep lying lol

shit's all fucked, basically.
