Doof, don't listen to him.

Not used to hearing maynard hard tuned (by and down, feathers). Not a good sound for him.
I loved this band when I was younger. I was even a defender of eMOTIVe. But this is just unacceptable - Coldplay and Imagine Dragons style music with a cheap sounding orchestral keyboard library and old man get-off-my-lawn lyrics.

That's funny because I was surprised by how good Maynard sounded in that vocal style on "by and down". I can see why someone wouldn't enjoy that sound though.
Coldplay? Imagine Dragons? I can't hear either of those comparisons at all.

It honestly sounds to me like Maynard's performance on By and down was not only hard tuned, but possibly tracked at a slower tempo and sped up with some formant adjustment. Very awkward and robotic.

Neither of those production techniques are inherently negative and you guys are just speculating at this point.

Sure, they're not inherently negative if they're executed well and therefore transparent, but it's glaringly obvious enough here that it kills the emotion of the performance and distracts from it. I may be wrong about the exact procedure, but either way the result is distractingly heavy processing.

also...anyone else think that the t/t sounds almost exactly like Radiohead

It definitely has a Radiohead-esque vibe, but that sinister beat in the beginning around 0:19 almost feels like QOTSA lol

>"It's not a groundless comparison if they are part of the same body of work of an artist, in this case Keenan. Also, all three projects have the goal of creating music, so there's that. People just shouldn't take it too far, that's what I'm saying." -RikRoach7
That's like saying, "I'm going to compare Stanley Kubrick to PewDiePie because they both make videos," or "Hannibal Lecter to Gordon Ramsay 'cause they both make food." You can look at it through that lens, but that disregards the uniqueness each band offers. You're not acknowledging those bands as independent of each other, rather, you're viewing them as sequels. You're thinking of it as an artist making a series of paintings rather than one who's painting a different portrait altogether. If you keep thinking of it in that way, you'll never be satisfied because your mind is already made up on which band is better. You'll just be disappointing yourself.

How was King of limbs eclectic or arty? It's one of their most boring albums, but it's still radiohead
