This is one of those albums that I remember loving, but if you asked me how any song (other than Charisma) went. I couldn't tell you. I probably need to jam it again to see if my rating is still warranted.

why are you guys blatantly ignoring Fake Lightning? Go listen to it and tell me it isn't good and isn't memorable. Seriously.

The only reason it has staying power, from my standpoint, is the drumming performance, which does not belong on this album considering how impactful it is. The other elements are there, perhaps, but are lacking in comparison or feature little diversity--an exacerbated issue as the album continues.

drumming is def a huge part of this for me but that only makes it a better record. doesn't make me think about if other parts are lacking (which i don't think, obviously). just makes me think "wow david is one of the best in the game, i love pbtt"

Drummer has always been really good, but I won't listen to this just for that.

Fake Lighting is my favorite track on the album as well, and I'd agree with ya too, Mars.

I don't think the rest of the performances on this aren't excellent, though. The drummer is carrying hard pretty much the entire time, but in my opinion the rest of the sound is meant to feel grayer, a little more reserved, and midtempo. I really enjoy the vocal delivery too, for instance.

Drums are the best part of the album [2]

I think they pulled back too far and became too reserved in all honesty. The explosive quality of the percussion really points this out, it doesn't seem to belong on a record doing its best to tone it down.
