my top 5 of the decade are kinda obscure except for Home... by The Hotelier
Got that, Kishi Bashi's Lighght, The Cabs' Recur Breath (technically an EP but fuck it), Enemies' Embark Embrace, and my #1, Cymbals Eat Guitars' LOSE.

Wildlife by La Dispute
Home... by The Hotelier
This is What Happens by The Reign of Kindo
Suburbia I've Given You All And Now I'm Nothing by The Wonder Years
The Dark Dark Bright by There Will Be Fireworks
oof that was hard. Also, To Pimp a Butterfly deserves an honorable mention, even though I've only listened to it once in full and I have basically zero grounds to critique rap, it shook me in a way no other album has.

Total Life Forever by Foals and Like Clockwork are pretty much tied for my 6th favorite of the decade.

Need to check this band.
|

Never got Foals, never got Alt-j
Also one band sort of got hyped as the other one died - passed the baton, who’s next?

album has been mostly forgotten in the critics list season. sad!

Has it? I mean, the ones with halfway decent taste got it on their list. I know better than to place any faith in half the staff and contribs tho tbh.

Critics have been too busy jizzing all over boring rap, r&b, and pop this year to give credit to an antricate and beautiful folk album.

p4k with the sly snub by ranking it #39 (despite the 8.7 rating) and right below drake

I mean, it's nice that music journalists have gone back to accepting that popular music can be good, but I feel like that's now happened at the expense of "underground" music.
