I am, too, no doubt. That sucks so much, though, Freddie (I'll get used to the new name soon), I'm sorry you had to go through that -- not fair at all. ):

Appreciate the sentiment, but it's okay! Made me the person I am today and all that

yeah nah look, the latest batch of messages is pretty damning. Pretty piss poor way to treat someone you're apparently dating, thought the gf was being pretty rational and he completely blew it out of proportions.

i'd feel much more able to move past this mess in time if wil pulls a dan harmon and really owns up to dis shit as georgia suggested in her insta post, but nope he doubled down on the "personal business / two-way toxic relationship" narrative.

He really needs to say something like no matter what she said or did he fucked up bad. There's very little chance of them recovering from this anytime soon sadly.

I'm so conflicted. On the one hand, I don't think the emails themselves should've been made public. But on the other... we've all read them, and it couldn't be clearer how in the wrong Wil was. And while I don't think it should destroy the band, it will, without a doubt, destroy people's perceptions of Wil -- and given how personal the music is, how vital it is that the listener empathises in some way with the singer's experiences, it demolishes a good deal of the band's emotional resonance. And that sucks, and this whole situation sucks. "You're the worst thing that ever happened to me" takes on an *entirely* different tone. I don't think it changes the "value" of it, per se, but now it's less a personal epiphany -- a declarative statement -- and more... well, an attack. That's a lot harder to stomach.

Summed it up more or less perfectly Blush. The more the situation unravels and the more it sinks in the shittier it feels.
Might try jamming this tomorrow and see what kinda taste it leaves in my mouth.

Blush have you seen the other messages between another girlfriend? Much worse. I just really don't know how to feel about this. On one hand what has been said in these messages are very poor form but I feel like they just have it out to destroy Wil. He should apologise and make amends etc and work on himself, but this should have been done privately.

i dont think the intention of the public release of these messages is to "destroy wil", although that is undoubtedly a side effect. rather, i think the point is to rlly get wil to confront his pattern of abuse rather than hiding from it and thereby perpetuating it. and this is probably not something that could have been achieved privately. could wil or the people around him be made to confront this problem or hold wil accountable while it all remained private? unlikely, hence the public revelations.

but as ugly as wil's behaviour was, i didn't think he or his band would face an utter destruction of reputation provided that he completely and genuinely owned up to his behaviour, and he failed to do that. so at this point i dont really have a problem with letting the chips fall where they may

btw upcoming ssb tour just lost its supports cuz of this
