I think Core is more bombastic, definitely more blatantly bombastic. Like, that 2:35 in Seed Act III.

I'm so close to 5'ing this... I never gave a fuck about this band, I had listened to their debut more than 10 years ago and didn't impress me, "core" wasn't my cup of tea at the time either and then I just didn't give a damn anymore about them. But this is a complete different beast, I dedicated myself to listening to "shin-ken" and "spiritual migration" this week, and "aathma" is the culmination of that sound, the pinnacle of what they were trying so hard to reach.

"LOL"

Dude, stack this and Spiritual up against Core. Pretty obviously Core is not as in-your-face.

The "LOL" was for the satisfaction aim!

Yeah, "core" is bombastic, but not as atmospheric as this can be, still, it's a very polished album, I enjoyed the mixing, the bass is audible, not like here.

But this is like a different band, this is not the band that made "core", that's my 2 cents. I feel this closer to Cynic and Opeth... "core" is more like Mors Principium Est or Faceles...

Most audible bass is on Truth but nobody ever listens to it

I'm torn about this album. I'll need to give it another listen but the ending was superb.

Ending is some of the best they've ever done.

I will say that:

"But this is like a different band, this is not the band that made "core", that's my 2 cents"

I don't find that true. These guys are certainly the same band and have the same core style and sound, but have expanded on how exactly they portray that sound. I still here Truth and Core moments in every album they do.

They're intensely committed to keeping that guitar tone and the dynamic with the piano.

One of the things I don't like is that the first two tracks are two tracks. Should just be merged into one.

I'm pretty sure in Aathma part III, a snipped of the lyrics is

"I walked away from the singularity"

Now I really want to read the rest.
