liberal means centrist meme-sharer on the internet who protests anything that sounds cruel; liberals love capitalism and the middle-class

leftism means organizing against the worst tendencies of the right now since we're so far behind in the world view. it has nothing to do with feel-good pacifistic shite. ps corbyn is a good man

"I don't get the hype at all."

Reception is super mixed, I don't really see much hype around here.

"this album is the ultimate personification of liberal navalgazing."

Yeah, exactly.

Certainly your opinion. Like Clinton you can only define yourself in terms of the other side. Liberalism these days just pits everyone against one another via identity politics - the most corrosive and dead end of ideologies with no positive vision for the future. Edit: and I definitely consider myself socially left, for full disclosure. I just don't think that our political interaction should be reduced to a single identity.

This album also sucks.

The impression I got after listening to a small portion of this album is that it is so lauded solely because a trans person is the vocalist.

MarsKid, I wasn't talking about sputnik.

I think the beats are completely uninteresting and have no punch.

The vocals and lyrics just make it worse.

That's fair, Arcade. I suppose that complaint was overstated. What I meant is that the vocals are so different and in your face (I've never listened to Antony and the Johnsons before), in comparison to which I find the beats super uninteresting.

Not as bad as it's made out to be, not as great either. Good average tho

This album is great piece of art, one of the most important and inspiring music release in last few years. It's tough, it's very odd and full of sorrow but still that's something intriguing in this music. The lyrics are so deeply touching and I really appreciate how full of concept and sense this album is. So innovative using of synthetizers - the sound that we usually connect with disco, pop or electronic music - with texts which makes this album even more fascinating.

"Drone Bomb Me" and "Why Did You Separate Me From The Earth?" are probably the best tracks here but I also define ,,Crisis" and "I Don't Love You Anymore" as really great.

"Violent Man" reminds me of computer games, promoting violence which is nowadays a huge issue and it's really intriguing.

At least I like "Obama" but it's interesting how she puts so much attention and brings so much sorrow to that issue like it's her own, private problem.

God I can't stand the framing of her lyrics on this project. It's just so one-sided, un-balanced, not nuanced in the slightest and arrogant as all hell. And when you want to make music this political, first off, that's just sure to anger a lot of people, but it also makes you seem really unlikable as a character/person/lyricist.

Drone Bomb Me in particular is just such a punch to the gut for all the wrong reasons. You just don't write character pieces like that without sounding like the most pretentious person ever. And it's presented like this situation and mindset is prevalent in a lot of girls from Afghanistan, which is an assumption that is just so, frankly, incredibly offensive to the ACTUAL PEOPLE THERE who can very well speak for themselves and offer some real insight to their thoughts and experiences. And i get using your platform to elevate this problems, but if you do that, at least have the freaking decency to not speak from their perspective, because you always will sound like you don't know what you are talking about.

haven't listened but I think it's more due to the part about bad lyricism than lyrical content
