Ya it is, some songs are bloated and there are awkward transitions at times. Funny you mention BTBAM because at times this reminded me of them.

Define "bloated" though. I actually agree that some transitions are less than perfect but I feel like they're really good at creating this awesome varied backing melodies that advance the songs in sensible and exciting ways. I.e. no bloat.

RYM never impressed me all that much. Their reviews are pretty much a free-for-all, so it takes more time to sort things out. I agree with Sputnik's ratings more than most sites I've seen. Allmusic inflates the ratings a bit in most cases, mainly to scale an artist against themselves. But there are some artists that don't make albums good enough to warrant 4.5 stars or better. So it winds up confusing people who think they're getting something much better than it actually is.

I'm not a big metalhead, besides maybe Sabbath if that still counts, and I've got to say what I've heard from this album is pretty rad

I hate anthony fantano's content for the most part but his review for this was actually great. I've never used RYM up until now, but 4.06 seems like a considerably closer pointer to the truth than 4.6. I feel utterly dirty for talking about RYM and fantano in the same comment, but Sputnik is sucking this off without remorse.
Y'all are crazy.
