This afternoon I was thinking about that time I tried to actually sit through this whole album and figured I'd bump it just cuz.

Don't know, both listening experiences can be pretty painful in parts and cause bit of nausea. It's like having to choose between slightly moldy milk and spoiled orange juice.

It's not a BAD album imho... but nothing stands out. For me, pretty much every Dream Theater album of the past 15 years has been a mix of songs ranging from rather bad to absolutely amazing. This album has nothing that stands out as particularly good or particularly bad. The whole thing is just meh. And considering just how damn long the album is, I never find myself having any particular urge to listen to it.

^Agreed, it's not bad at all. It's just got some quite big flaws, such as cheesy + generic lyrics, underdeveloped story and a case of "not enough meat on the bones".

Personally, I find it more interesting, instrumentally, than the self titled was, in that there's a lot more new things to be found here. And whilst the lyrics are not good, the vocal performance and melodies are pretty damn great.

I don't know if I'll ever have the motivation giving this a spin again tbh. Sad story considering how much I love this band.

True. The band is in the images and words tour, and I'm wondering whether I should go or not. Probably will be a good show

DT are great live, though Labrie doesn't have the pipes he once did. I'd say go because you'll probably not have the chance again, and it is Images & Words after all.

Yeah I mean like, seeing Transformers in theaters is way better than watching them at home. DT is kinda the same shit.
