I blame arca ... kind of a one trick pony which doesn't suit Bjork at all

Cool that there's a song called Tabula Rasa. First song is good so far - a hell of a lot better than the opener on this

Her vocals are so annoying sometimes - like on the gate, the way she over enunciates "care for you". Overall I'm enjoying this tho. There's a lot of 'prettiness' to it. All the natural sounds incorporated into it, and lighthearted flutes like those in the title track, or the cool sensuality of 'Blissing Me' - a song that recalls the cold minimalist aesthetic of Vespertine. Certainly taking away much more from the experience than i did with Vulnicura.

I would normally be encouraged to hear such comments but you did give this a 2.5 so...

I'm hoping to squeeze the new one in later (or tomorrow) at some point. Excited.

I'm listening to the new one right now.

I'm bored right now.

Could be a coincidence?

I've resorted to trying to identify all of Arca's animal noises, that's the primary activity, occasionally what appears to be noise attempting to be music puts me off this task and I get annoyed.

I'm not sure but someone who might be Bjork is attempting to sing from low down in the mix.

You’ve been giving her some shit lately haven’t you doof?

I've neglected her discog. She' s one of the major artists I'd never really investigated.

Obviously i'd heard Bjork songs hundreds of times before because I'm old and lived through the 90s, but I'd never sat down through any album other than 'Homo'

Bjork being low down in the mix sounds bad, crazy as it may seem to some, there's are those of us who actually like her voice. I'd rather not listen to animal noises.

From memory Vespertine is the only one of hers I really enjoy, and homo is pretty good too
Might give her another chance

The problem with this type of album from Bjork is honestly I'm not convinced her vocals add to the experience much at all. This jungle jam would sound better without the disembodied elf queen wandering in lost from her usual enchanted glade or wherever she chills. The two elements don't mix.

Yes Pork, the Post/Vespertine/Homogenic era is where to go first. Honestly, I can see why people wouldn't like her later stuff, admittedly I don't like all of it.

Jas I'm up to 'Creature Features' and she's got top billing over Arca's howler monkeys again...and coincidentally this is the second best song so far after the opener.

I mean I don't really like Arca all that much and I don't really like Bjork all that much so this album is up against it right off the bat.

Fuck the day she met Arca. Anyway, gonna jam the new one tomorrow.

I dunno, a lot of the jungle sounds/bird calls sounded louder than her early on.

I don't know what to make of her vocal performances at this stage of her career, I guess she puts a lot of effort into writing these melodies but damn, they just blur into one never ending indistinct ramble for me.

'Loss' is quite nice, only really liked three tunes so far. Sort of Lord of the Rings meets an industrial processing plant. They just about pull it off...without delivering a world beater of a tune or anything, I mean we've all given up on Bjork delivering anything like that. Experimental is the watchword, pop be damned.
