And TVC this album is well-regarded because it's the best of it's kind: catchy, uplifting, fun summertime indie rock. It's nothing to be taken too seriously or anything but it's pretty much perfect at what it does.

I prefer Room on Fire, but it's what got me listening to these guys more in the first place. I can easily see why this would be anyone's #1, it's my #2. I'm not a huge fan if the band though, tbh (hence no ratings) but I've listened to them a lot. My Mom and Step-Father love these guys.

Kinda suprised to see a low rating for this album in particular

Songs like new york city cops and the modern age are sweet

The Strokes are very good, but the suicidal cult of this band is preachy as fuck, it get very annoying when the fanboys of this band constantly repeat shit like -strokes saved rock music- and crap like that, also with the exception of fab the other members of the strokes are arrogant and impolite as hell, specially julian

I've been saying the same thing forever, but now I am not so sure if RoF is better than this. Both 5's for me though so it doesn't really matter

Vocals are cool, also the live perfomances of these guys are fun and good unless julian is drunk or high

I remember liking 'Hard to Explain', apart from that it was always one of those vaguely entertaining throwaway records for me.
