titan Leaving it Behind is my least favorite on there but I don't think it's bad. It kind of sounds like they wanted to make it another Pulled Under at 2000... or Summer Night Horizon. Pretty much all the songs that come after Leaving it Behind are gold though.

Yeah nothing's really lacking on the new one but I was particularly impressed with the run of songs right after Leaving it Behind, and the closer.

New album should've started with Endless Ways, fuck me what a song. So far I'm really diggin' the new one. They've refined their electronic sound, the album flows really well, production is great. It's the best parts of the last 3 albums with little filler.

Damn, Leaving It Behind really isn't popular on here lol.
It is pretty underwhelming. Probably one of their weakest openings

Really not digging Optimist at first listen. Songs like San Francisco make me wonder what's the point of it really and whenever a song starts out with a slow ballad-esque piano intro you just automatically know that it's Lee Douglas that's gonna be singing. Vincent should have had a bigger role on it to my taste because Lee, how nice her voice might be, just doesn't surprise me with anything she does.
I do expect it to grow more eventually

Agreed with everything. But San Francisco is a really cool song.

I quite enjoy the more experimental stuff on the new one - San Fran and the jazz tune (Close Your Eyes) are smooth as fuck. If the first song is the worst song it can't be all that bad of an album as the opener is reasonably enjoyable.
First impressions is it has a bit more to offer than this (Distant Satellites)

Endless Ways, The Optimist, San Francisco, Springfield and Ghosts is an amazing run. Weak bookends but a strong middle section, plus it all flows very fell and I felt the production was way better than their last 2 records. Solid 4/5

Close Your Eyes sounds like an intro to a 7-9 minute song that just got cut off when it finally started going. Great vibe, but so subdued.
Title track is great though.

Love when a new album gets released how everyone jumps to comment on the last album instead of commenting on the new one. sput logic
