Dude it's like one of the best remixes I've heard, most of the songs have shit you've never heard compared to the original mix.

The original mix will always be my fave cos that's how I fell in love with this album, but the 2013 mix does this more than enough justice.

I read they had originally planned to take a more ethereal and acoustic direction with their follow-up to this and the Unplugged show, before Cobain's death

Where did you read that? Everything I've read Kurt always wanted to make the most alienating, heavy album he could to shake the top of the pops type fans.

Scentless Apprentice sounds so MASSIVE."

Just listened to the 2013 mix for the first time and holy shit you're right, it sounds so much more metal

@DrGonzo I just realized there's a lot of contradictory information about the possible musical direction Kurt would have taken. An interview said he was working on a solo album, although he apparently also planned to join Courtney Love's band, and make both heavy and acoustic Nirvana albums.

I could only imagine them going down a heavier route

I imagine them going the exact polar opposite direction to the Foo Fighters

Aka the correct direction, no friggin' videos with Dave Grohl on an aeroplane gurning while playing 10 different characters thanks

Not saying you're wrong or anything Onirium, but I've read quite a lot of Nirvana related stuff and Kurt - at the time - was extremely resentful of the type of people he was attracting when Nevermind came out, and made it a goal to make a new album that had the "punk" edge to it. Afterall, the label went nuts when they heard the original Albini mix and that's why Heart-shaped Box, All Apologies and Pennyroyal Tea got remixed in the end. So it's not that hard to see Kurt was on a mission to go more underground again.

I wish they were around long enough to really get heavier

I honestly think this would have been Nirvana's last album anyway.
