yeah but i like it less than most users here. the lead guitarist who later formed Goatwhore does a lot of black metal vox on the second album and i don't think it really fits this band's vibe

God the lyrics are a bag of shite, but it also works. I feel like you NEED them. This is also too long theoretically, but what are you gonna cut? Cheap Vodka maaaaybe. After that? Hmm...

Yeah idk. Probably still a 5/5. I can’t replace this. One of the most consistently creative heavy albums around.

I've been listening to this album for about 9 years now and I still barely remember what The Mortician's Flame sounds like

It doesn’t stand out, maybe too similar to a couple that came before it. Good song though.



The lyrics are just very in your face and there’s barely any hidden meaning, plus it’s almost a montage of ‘here’s some disturbing sounding shit’ in a way which almost ends up sounding forced. Like I said it DOES work, just something I could see putting people off. I don’t listen to this for the lyrical content.

The lyrics just never put me off whatsoever. An example of a band with shit lyrics would be Agalloch. They should get a trophy for the corniest cheeseball lyrics in all of metal.
