I'll be honest. I had no expectations going into this. I'm not disappointed after an eight year wait, because I didn't listen to the other album until i had heard this one.



Almost everything about this album is amazing. The compositions, the instrumentals, the amount of stuff going on, even the mastering (the album isn't brickwalled like most metal albums -- and indeed, most music). The lyrics are...average, though I doubt anyone listens to it for the lyrics.



I do agree with the belief I saw stated that the album is, in a way, TOO 'epic.' I'm not a fan of filler tracks necessarily, but some breaks to underline the insane build-ups and swells in the major tracks would have helped them (When Time Fades Away does a decent job of this on its own for Sons of Winter and Stars, but the others are kind of out on their asses), I think. Jari is a good composer, and I think he could have done it.
