Now Atavan surely you can't think that

When you put songs written by producers and individuals outside of the music instead of the actual artist or band, of course you can.

haha
I just think Aim & Ignite is catchier. I'm also not a fan of the autotune...just not my style.
|
| |
Is autotune an instrument?
No Lil Wayne, autotune is not an instrument.

I always hate it when people say "this band sold out because they autotuned" or "they became pop garbage", because seriously what the fuck is music if you can't experiment...using computers and electronics to make your music doesn't make you any less of an artist; sound is sound and music = music.
But to me, only half the songs on here are good, the other half are forgettable. There are also one or two atrocious songs (sorry Atavan, but "It Gets Better" makes me want to plunge a screw driver into my dick). On Aim & Ignite every song is exceptionally fun. (pun intended) even if there isn't a single song that matches "Some Nights" (although All The Pretty Girls comes damn close)

Autotune can be good. When you use it to go 'ha ha' and flap your lips around it's retarded.
|
| |
They didn't sell out, not at all. The band made this decision for artistic purposes, not money.
But yeah, vocal effects can be good and they are at times on this album, especially in 'Stars' but in other instances, it sounds awful, 'One Foot' for instance. The vocal effect over Nate's voice kill the power of his vocal in my opinion. You can hear him shouting and growling but it's like there's a constant safety net stopping him from doing so. Also, 'It Gets Better' sounds like Nate has a seriously bad flu.
|
| |
Yeah but it seriously dies out after a few listens. There's no lasting power because, at least for me; the music isn't layered enough. I liked plucking out all of the instrumentals of Aim & Ignite.
|
| |
Have you listened to Aim and Ignite?
|
| |
Well, then, yeah... hm, I dunno, listen to it but don't expect, like catchy up-beat pop numbers.
|
| |
Yeah, it's worth checking out I think. Seems you'll either like it or dislike it. So, 50/50 chance. =)
|
| |
Nah, you won't be like "Screw fun! They make children sob!" or anything, they do a fairly good job of making pop music, even on Some Nights but it's not nearly as stellar as Aim and Ignite in my opinion, or Dog Problems for that matter... or Sam Means' NONA.
|
| |
You need to check out Dog Problems! It's an incredible, excellent album, honestly. Sam Means is the
band-member Nate used to write with back in The Format. He actually wrote the music to most of the
songs and Nate would do the lyrics. He also wrote The Gambler and Benson Hedges off of Aim and Ignite.
