"With some of the crap I hear on the tv/radio I just can't see how some of these ratings are justified.... I guess some folks just want to hate."

What a delightful straw man.

Here's the thing, chucklefuck. As banal as the stuff on the radio is, it's usually competently put together. Nickelback don't suck because they don't know how to play their instruments, but because their songwriting is awful. Justin Bieber's music doesn't suck because it's incompetently produced. It's because it's diabetes in audio form.

The failing of a lot of mass media-friendly mainstream music is that it's bland escapism. It doesn't have a very long shelf life. The music industry has had ages to learn how to put together a product like this in order to turn out a profit. Hell, as great as a lot of the Motown output was, the label was still dedicated to producing radio-friendly soul and gospel music. It was a hit factory.

Where Lulu fails is that it was a doomed experiment born out of misguided ideas and possibly senility. It's a collection of terrible lyrics, shoddy production, sub-par songwriting, and experiments that ultimately end up going nowhere. I gave this album one last shot and listened to it the whole way through. I had to blast a marathon of Megadeth and Blind Guardian afterward to get the taste out of my mouth, if that's not an unfortunate choice of words when talking about an album about a prostitute.

My point is that you're comparing apples and oranges. The TV/radio hits you're referring to are commercial products meant to be accessible to a not overly picky audience who want something catchy and distracting. Lulu was an overblown artistic project that drowned in its own self-indulgent motherfuckery. Accept that some of us don't want that shit and quit your complaining.

Why would people who already know they'll enjoy a record come on here and talk about it for days?

It's all criticism, be it negative or positive. If people are allowed to spend more than one hundred

pages circle jerking over Cynic's Traced in Air then I think we should be allowed (nay,

required!) to spend at least a few dozen pages collectively spitting on the abomination of Lulu.

This Lulu album is the worst thing I have ever heard. "Ever"

Lou Reed is a tosser, I have never heard worse signing or lyrical structure in my whole life.

If he is a Rolling stones hall of fame legend, then I'm a freaking astronaut.

"just hate when people insult me for albums i like (St. Anger), just except it and move on, no one

seems to able to do that."

"You can listen to what you want. It's your own fucking business. But objectively speaking, there's

really not much to recommend this album. It's the sort of thing that will only appeal to a tiny

handful of people, most of whom are probably Lou Reed or Metallica completionists. That's my point

anyway. What you think of it is up to you."

@Steerpike - i totally agree with you but other people need to try and convince me otherwise or

insult my intelligence, age (22), taste ect. just gets really annoying! just wish everybody got

along and

excepted each overs differences (wishful thinking for a perfect world......)

(Testament) 4) Holy Wars... The Punishment is Due 5) War Ensemble. my top 5 always change though, but

Over the internet, if you write with bad grammar, you give a general impression of stupidity/adolescence. I believe that this is the reason why you are not taken seriously. Your punctuation is all over the place, you use capitalization inconsistently and misspell words regularly. Now, I know that this doesn't necessarily make the writer stupid, but it's just the impression that you get.

@ Muikuli - im not American, i moved from Israel at age 14 almost 15 to the US. i am sorry my writing is bad im trying to work on it, i was never taught grammar and punctuation in school (fortunately when i talk people don't know im a immigrant cause i have no accent and pretty good vocabulary) . one of the reasons i was tempted to join this website was so my only way of communicating is writing so its bound to improve and of course i love music (mainly Metal and Rock). and also because of the language barrier i really don't understand written sarcasm so im sorry if i don't, I really do apologize if my writing is bad please forgive me.

As a writer, I can testify that English grammar can be a bear. As long as you're making the effort to improve, that's still more than I can say of some of my US countrymen. It makes me laugh every time some twit sends me a nasty message saying, "dude!!! dis isnt english clas so fuk off!!"
