I don't think demi was talking about the break-up when he said that just Tom's attitude with AVA and stuff like that. Regardless though I don't think any of them are blameless but all three decided to re-connect after Travis had his accident, Tom was hardly the only reason.

It's better than both parts of Love definitely and I love some tracks there like Heaven, but WDNTW was their most consistent and had their best tracks for me (The Adventure, The War, Start The Machine).
