Tyrael what's the difference between Flemish and Dutch?
Heyy let's see what wikipedia tells us about this:
Belgian Dutch, the national variety of the Dutch language as spoken in Belgium, be it standard (as used in schools, government and the media) or informal (as used in daily speech) Nevertheless, the use of the word "Flemish" to refer to the official language in Flanders is misleading. The only official language in Flanders is Dutch.

Flemish is like 'american'
it's a variation of the base language: dutch
you could consider it to be a umbrella term for all flemish dialects
|
| |
Ahhh, well that's all cleared up then!
|
| |
It's kinda annoying though cause there are certain dialects that are quite hard for me to understand even though we speak the same language
|
| |
It's the same in the UK ish, some places up north and in Scotland, Ireland and Wales have very strong accents and
sometimes dialects that are hard to understand
|
| |
Yeah dino you could compare it with that
oh lol potato I make a lot of mistakes (especially when it comes to grammar) and there's a lot of vocabulary missing from my english knowledge which is especially limiting if I want to express my feelings towards something (as in a review)

Thought the band's other albums were average but this is pretty good.

you guys should learn portuguese, its the most expressive language in the world
|
| |
I doubt it's more expressive than English
|
| |
way more
|
| |
I don't know for sure but I think English has more words, which would make it easier to express yourself
|
| |
i can tell you english doesnt even touch portuguese when it comes to the amount of words, specially words that have the same meaning but can be interpreted in a completely different way. portuguese vocabulary is way more vast than the english one, no pun intended.
|
| |
Well in that case you might be right. Isn't portuguese basically just spanish with a dutch accent though?
(completely joking)
(kinda)
|
| |
not really, even tho both languages have many similar words. but i havent studied spanish language that well to talk about it, it is fairly easy for portuguese and spanish to comunicate while speaking. writting however its harder, plus in Spain you have some cities where people speak a diferent spanish language (castellano for example) much like the diference between England and USA.
and just for the record there is no such thing as a brazilian language, they speak an imperfect portuguese, it were portuguese sailors that discovered brazil and we taught them our language.
|
| |
Yeah I've been to Mallorca where they speak Catalan which is a different language to Spanish. I'd say the differences between England and the USA are more similar to the differences between Portugal and Brazil.
|
| |
yea, word exchange, accent etc..

Album Rating: 4.0
"you guys should learn portuguese, its the most expressive language in the world"
well i speak spanish so i pretty much have it on lockdown haha
|
| |
the least expressive language is probably German. There are hardly any synonyms and loads of compound words.
But I love Germany so it's all good
|
| |
yea. its also extremely hard to learn german. i would love to study it tho
|
| |
I'm studying it at the moment. The good thing about it is that it's very regular; it follows rules. The hard bit is that those rules are fucking weird.
