house of leaves rules, have you read only revolutions? no one ever does for some reason, but it is pretty much just as good. and it's even weirder if that matters (i guess it does).

book is mad hyped, but it is honestly hard to overstate just how good it is

yeah it's written in really weird poetry verse, takes a fucking minute to even grasp what's going on but once you get into it, there is an incredible amount of depth to it. the number of images and references that are packed into every line is absurd, not to mention the form (two characters telling the same story, often in disagreement about facts), the cyclical story-line, the signature danielewski colored text, consistent literary references, etc.
such an incredible writer. it's just astounding.

it references multiple historical periods at once too, the idea being that the story is always happening and has always been happening. super ~post-modern~
i think i just talked myself into reading it again.

it's hard to describe how weird it is. i tried to read it a couple times and gave up because it was so dense tbh. glad i eventually put in the effort though. i think it got pretty mixed reviews but it's undeniably conceptually interesting and well-crafted structurally, and i personally found it to be brilliant.
